Elderly man faints at home and has breathing trouble

Emergency medical staff responded to a 79-year-old man at home who became lightheaded when he stood up, briefly lost consciousness for about 30 to 60 seconds, and had mild shaking that did not appear to be a full seizure. His family laid him on the ground and called emergency services. Before medics arrived, he regained consciousness and vomited. On arrival he was awake, alert, breathing normally, and showed no signs of injury. His blood pressure was low and his oxygen level was slightly reduced. While being moved onto the gurney he became very pale, cool, and sweaty, his oxygen level dropped further, and his heart rate increased. Medics provided high-flow oxygen, after which his oxygen level improved and he remained awake and conscious during transport.
