Apartment smoke incident from burnt food

Fire crews were dispatched to a reported structure fire at Ruth Haefner Plaza Apartments on Southwest Beaverton-Hillsdale Highway, in apartment 220. A caller in a nearby unit reported white smoke coming from the apartment and initially declined to evacuate. Multiple engines and a truck company arrived, checked the four-story apartment building, and investigated the reported unit. Inside, crews found that the problem was burnt food, with no active fire, no smoke spread to other areas, and no need for ventilation. Hallways were clear, residents were not evacuating, and there was no sign of fire extension. Most responding units were released, with one engine remaining to finish up.
