Fire crews investigate smoke odor in duplex

Fire crews responded to a report of smoke and a non-working kitchen outlet at a two-story duplex near Rugby Street in Norfolk. The caller said she smelled smoke the previous night. On arrival, nothing was visible from the outside and the occupants were waiting on the front porch. Firefighters investigated a slight electrical odor and checked outlets and devices inside. They determined the smell was coming from a new heating and cooling appliance and air vents. There was no smoke, no hazard, and temperatures were normal, so most units cleared while one crew remained to handle the situation.
