Things have unfortunately changed alot over the years. A 9 yr old should not be left alone. I would panic. Too many kids are missing these days. Keep your children safe.

I grew up in Los Angeles. The Mar Vista area is about three miles to the beach. At six years old my friend and I walked to the beach every day of summer vacation. Was it that much safer in the 70’s? Truly, I’d hit my Dad up for 50c or sometimes I got a whole dollar and head to the beach. We’d get home right as it was getting dark.
