Firefighters battle apartment fire with heavy smoke

Fire crews respond to an apartment fire with heavy smoke on the first floor. Units pull hoses, enter the building, and begin search and rescue. A battalion chief arrives and takes the role of safety officer. Firefighters push inside to attack the fire with hose lines placed at the door. Additional engines, a truck, and medical units from nearby agencies are requested. Utility services are also called to the scene. A primary search of the first floor is completed and reported all clear.
